NIKON Z5IIC

KEVIN KELLER x HEATH PINTER

In the Summer of 2026 Nikon reached out about prdocuing and shooting a project for a new camera they were launching, the Z5IIC. Without getting too deep into the specs, it’s built to be an everyday documenter for people ready to take the next step up from shooting on their phones. Full-frame 24MP sensor in a small body, and it takes any Z-mount glass. Pretty powerful for a “first camera.”

I don’t love putting labels on myself, but my style has drifted more toward documentary and photojournalism over the years. Since this is a camera meant to be with you all day, I wanted to lean into that.

When I started thinking about what to pitch, one name came to mind right away: my buddy Heath Pinter. This guy is a modern day renaissance man. Epic snowboarder, former pro BMX dirt jumper, fabricator, and award-winning motorcycle builder. A day in the life with him was a no-brainer.

Early morning coffee, shutter drags on his Harley, moody light in the shop with sparks flying from grinding and welding, then some action on the jumps. It gave us a ton of different scenarios to really see what this camera could do. Spoiler alert: it didn’t disappoint.

None of this would have been possible without a crew that never took their foot off the gas:

Producer / Photographer: Kevin Keller
DP: Connor Van Orden
Cam Op / BTS Photo / Editor: Eli Weiner
Field Producer: Bryan Knox / Knox MMG
Production Assistant: Ella Knox
Nikon Product Marketing: Vishwa Subick

Huge thanks to everyone involved, and to Nikon for trusting us with this release!
